Pastor's
Corner - Dr. John H. Walker
But they
that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they
shall mount up with wings as eagles,
they
shall run, and not be weary;
and they
shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah
40:31
Dr.
John H. Walker is an anointed visionary who has served the Macedonia
Baptist Church as pastor for fourteen years. God has given this
under-shepherd a vision to lead His people by experiencing God in
every aspect of their lives. He believes and advocates strongly the
teaching, training and empowering of the laity. Through the
blessings of God, new ministries have been implemented and The
Vision: Commitment 2000 is alive, well and giving birth. On
Resurrection Sunday Morning, April 11, 2004, we moved "From Vision
to Manifestation" as we marched into our brand new
edifice!

Dr.
Walker's heart has been burdened about the absence of Black men in
the church and the vanishing of Black males in society. Pastor
Walker, led by the Holy Spirit to research, document and expound on
the Black male of today, has written a book entitled,
The Role of The Church in the Reclaiming of The Black
Male.
He recently released his second book entitled, A Fresh Look at The New Testament
Deacon, which has
become the training standard for numerous ministries across the
nation.
On
January 30, 2005, Pastor Walker released his latest book
entitled Pearls
in the Pew, during a double book release
with our First Lady, Pastor Rosie
Walker. A copy of either of
their books may be purchased by contacting the church
administrative office. Click here for more information.
Several
ministries have been implemented under the leadership of Pastor
Walker, including the Men of Zion Ministry. This ministry is
envisioned to be a source of inspiration, encouragement and outreach
to the men of, not just the Lincoln Heights community, but all of
Charlotte. Its successful implementation led to the birth of the Men
of Zion Mentoring Ministry called "Save Our Boys", specifically
designed to embrace and encourage the young boys of our
city.
Through
tithes, talents and time, Pastor Walker and the united members of
MBC visualize a new edifice, family life center and adult daycare on
Hateras Avenue. Giving all glory unto God, Phase I - A New Edifice,
is now complete so we are continuing on to Phase II of our pastor's
vision - A Family Life Center. Pastor Walker models Christ, strives
for excellence and believes that God is not through with us
yet.
He has
been married to the lovely vessel and prayer
warrior, Pastor
Rosie Knight Walker, for 28 years and together at
Macedonia Baptist Church, they share their ministry. The Lord has
blessed them with two musically anointed children; a
daughter/songbird, Janetta Olivia and a son/organist, John II; and
two grandchildren, Johnathon and Jamaal.
